Artsper conditions
Import charges and customs tariffs are not included in your final order total. On Artsper you pay the price of the work as well as the delivery costs. It will be mentioned in the first step of your basket if your order will be subject to customs clearance.
Please note that Artsper is not able to calculate upstream customs fees, as these are charged directly by the shipping company once the artwork has reached the destination country.
We can however confirm that they are calculated based on the value of the work declared by the gallery and the customs office of your country.
What is a customs duty?
The customs duty or customs tariff is a tax levied on goods to be imported as soon as they cross the border of the other country.
Customs duties are calculated based on the value of the shipment declared on the shipping slip, insurance costs and a percentage of the transport cost. All of these elements represent the Customs Declared Value. This value must then be multiplied by the customs duty rate, depending on the product code assigned to the goods by the sender.
Will I pay customs fees?
When goods are not shipped domestically (to your country) or within a single customs union, such as the European Union, customs fees may apply.
You are responsible for all incoming duties and taxes that your local customs authority deems appropriate.
Who do I pay customs fees to?
Customs fees include applicable VAT as well as administrative fees specific to each carrier. These charges are in addition to the price and shipping charges charged to you at checkout. Applicable duties and taxes are calculated at the border and based on the nature of the item, the final price of the item and the country of destination. Upon entry into the destination country, the carrier advances customs fees for the recipient.
The carrier (e.g. UPS, Fedex, TNT, etc.) takes care of customs formalities: declaration of the package and payment of duties and taxes, if applicable.
You may be asked for other personal information for customs processing, such as your identity number or EORI number if the purchase is made by a company.
Once cleared through customs, your package will be delivered to you by the same carrier who will invoice you, where applicable, for the duties and taxes that it has advanced on your behalf with customs, as well as the costs related to its service.
Buyer is responsible for customs fees and refusal to pay is not grounds for return.
Artsper is unable to reimburse you for any local import taxes or duties, as these are the responsibility of the importer.
Please note that any purchases shipped internationally may be subject to additional export, import and customs duties or international taxes. These costs are the responsibility of the buyer and will be invoiced directly by the carrier.
