When artworks are shipped outside of your country or a customs union (such as the European Union), you are responsible for any customs duties and import taxes that may be applied by local customs authorities.
These fees are added to the artwork price and shipping costs.
How are duties and taxes calculated?
Duties and taxes are calculated at the border based on:
The nature of the artwork
Its final price
The destination country
These may be due before, at the time of receiving your order, or at a later date, depending on local customs regulations.
What personal information is required?
To clear customs, you will need to provide certain personal information, such as:
Social security number (USA)
EIN, IRN, TIN, or EORI number
The carrier will contact you (email, mail, physically upon delivery) to inform you of the required documents, necessary declarations, and the fees to be paid.
Customs delays
Please note that customs delays can occur frequently. These delays are outside of Artsper's control and may result in delivery being delayed beyond the original estimated delivery date.
Unfortunately, delays caused by customs cannot be refunded as they are beyond our service’s control.
Responsibility for paying customs duties
As a buyer, you are responsible for paying customs duties within the required timeframes.
If these duties are not paid on time, you will be held responsible for any additional charges or actions that may result.
Failure to pay may result in the artwork being returned to the sender, incurring return shipping, storage fees, or even abandonment notice.
Return shipping fees
If an artwork is returned to the seller, return shipping fees will be charged to you.
If you refuse to pay these fees, the artwork may be destroyed by the carrier. Once destroyed, no refund will be provided.
